Building a Community of Healing

At our agency, we have pledged to become agents of change, representing our community within and out of our office walls. As we continue to carry out that promise, we want to extend our support to the Gabriel House of Care. 

Gabriel’s House has a heartwarming origin story and an amazing purpose. 

In 2008, Jorge Bacardi, Vice President of the Bacardi family business, received a double lung transplant at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville. He wanted to give back and honor his organ donor, doctors, transplant team, and his donor’s family for giving him the gift of life. 

Soon after his transplant, Jorge and his wife Leslie donated funds to Mayo Clinic to build a new hospitality house, which they named Gabriel House of Care in honor of his organ donor.

The recovery process can be lengthy and can require patients to remain close to hospitals. Staying in hotels can become costly, but Gabriel House of Care provides affordable lodging for patients and their caregivers, providing a safe environment for patients to recover and heal.
